MASS EFFECT 3 Gets Single Player DLC, More EA News

Mass Effect 3 has issued out a lot of downloadable content in the five months since its release. However, aside from the expanded ending, all the DLC has been focused on multiplayer content, giving new items, weapons, characters, and locations to team up with three others and take down wave after wave of enemy.

Until now. Today at their Summer Showcase, EA announced the first major single player DLC for Mass Effect 3. As rumored, the title is "Leviathan," and the new content will feature the origin of the Reapers. From EA's official description:

Mass Effect 3: Leviathan is the first story-driven, single player DLC to be made available since Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut. Leviathan expands upon the events of Mass Effect 3 with gripping and emotional storytelling, compelling new characters, powerful weapons and unique upgrades. Players will be able to discover more about the origins of the reapers as they race across the galaxy to unravel the mystery that surrounds the fabled Leviathan.

During the trailer, Shepard is back with her (or his if that's your thing) squad, searching for information on the origin of the Reapers and "Leviathan." At the end, after an exciting crash, a Reaper says "You have come too far." The DLC will run $10 or 800 Microsoft Points, and includes two new weapons, new Citadel areas, new systems, and more.

Next Tuesday will see the Firefight pack, a new single-player weapons pack with 7 weapons for $2, and Leviathan will hit later this summer.

On the WiiU edition of Mass Effect 3, EA and BioWare revealed the game will make use of the unique controls offered by the console. It will also include a playable story, similar to the Mass Effect: Genesis interactive comic on PlayStation 3, that will allow you to make the major choices from the first two games, get caught up on the story so far, and directly effect your final chapter.

EA also showed off Madden NFL Football and FIFA on the WiiU, showing off playcalling and advanced management on the tablet-like controller. EA did, however, also stress that both games are playable with the Pro controller, giving WiiU players a near-identical experience to that of the PS3 or Xbox 360.

On PC and Mac The Sims 3 Seasons will be coming this fall. The expansion of the computer juggernaut includes things like bobbing for apples during the fall festival, new snowball fight mini-games in winter, and many more seasonal activities for your Sims.

Both Battlefield 3 and Medal of Honor: Warfighter, EA's two first person shooter franchises, were featured in the conference as well. BF3 showed off more multiplayer DLC, while MOH:W announced... the involvement of Linkin Park in the soundtrack.
