Legendary Comics is expanding their publishing slate, and announced Wednesday a new graphic novel from writers Mark Waid and Max Brooks and artist Shane Davis, recently of Superman: Earth One.
Shadow Walk posits that the "Shadow of Death" is a real place, specifically one near modern-day Iraq connected to three separate incidents. The graphic novel depicts a group of special-ops soldiers, armed with the skull of John the Baptist and a piece of the True Cross, examining the possibility that an actual monster or demon might be responsible.
Waid told reporters at a media event at Comic-Con's Preview Night that the book will likely end up somewhere around 120 pages, and compared it thematically to his celebrated 1996 DC series .
Legendary is set to announce another project Thursday at their panel, scheduled for 5 p.m. Pacific time. In September, they're set to release , from writer Matt Wagner and artist Simon Bisley (preview here).
