Jason Aaron Leaving INCREDIBLE HULK, No Red HULK in Sept.?

It looks like Jason Aaron is leaving Incredible Hulk in the near future, and Hulk might be leaving Marvel's publishing line altogether.

In a Q&A published earlier this week on Marvel.com, Marvel senior editor Mark Paniccia announced that Aaron will be leaving Incredible Hulk, saying, "Jason's got a really great handle on the character and is building a conclusion to his run." Newsarama has confirmed with Marvel that this does indeed mean that Aaron is wrapping up his Incredible Hulk run, although when remains unrevealed.

The adjectiveless Hulk series, starring the Red Hulk, was conspicuous in its absence in Marvel's September solicitations. When asked for comment, Marvel's director of communications Arune Singh said, "Stay tuned! It's a big year for Hulk." On Twitter, Hulk writer Jeff Parker was asked about the book's absence by a fan, and responded, "crap, knew I forgot something."

Though August's issues of Hulk were not solicited as "final issue," the description of #57 (the final part of the "Mayan Rule" story arc) perhaps contains a clue, asking, "IS THIS THE END OF RED HULK???"

Whether or not any of this is tied into Marvel's post-Avengers vs. X-Men plans remains to be seen.
