UPDATED Friday, March 2: Despite early speculation that we may see some different characters in the big roles on Earth 2, Superman is still Clark Kent, albeit with a new twist: the love of his life, Lois Lane, is dead. And according to Editor Pat McCallum, that has a profound effect on the Man of Steel.
“What would you have to do to teach Superman to kill? He’s endured the loss of his home world, and now
the Last Son of Krypton must weather the death of his soul mate Lois
Lane. Just how far can you bend the Man of Steel before he breaks?”
So, apparently, both Batman and Superman are killers on Earth 2; no wonder Supergirl and Robin wanted to leave!
Write James Robinson echoed that this will be a bit darker thatn the Superman we know.
“Mourning the death of his beloved, Superman carries both a sadness
in his heart along with the weight of Earth 2′s welfare upon on his
shoulders, while never showing this and seeming to all that he is this
world’s peerless champion,” said Robinson on DC's The Source blog.

UPDATED Thursday, March 1: The fourth Earth 2 character design reveal of the week is Supergirl by Kevin Maguire, and as one might guess, it's Karen Starr — more commonly known as Power Girl — in the role. Before The New 52, Power Girl was the Earth 2 equivalent of Supergirl in the pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths DC Universe, and was revealed to be the same in the post-Crisis DCU as of Infinite Crisis.
"Meet the Earth 2 Supergirl, aka Karen Starr," said Worlds' Finest editor Wil Moss on DC publicity blog The Source. "As readers of Mister Terrific already know, Karen has
been busy since she arrived on the main DCU Earth, creating a successful
company and dating the brilliant Michael Holt. But what are her true
motives behind those actions? How did she get here? And what incident
prompts her to take up her new identity of Power Girl? Find out in
Worlds' Finest #1!"
Also on the post, Earth 2 writer James Robinson refers to this Supergirl as "the definitely brightest light among this first group of Earth 2 heroes."
Another Earth 2 reveal is likely to come on Friday, check back at this space then.
UPDATED Wednesday, February 29: Another new Earth 2 character design Wednesday morning from DC, featuring the Earth 2 version of Wonder Woman designed by Jim Lee, debuting in May.
“Due the events that open the saga of Earth 2, Wonder Woman is already the last Amazon of this world and she is determined to avenge her sisters…at whatever cost,” said Earth 2 writer James Robinson.
“How did Wonder Woman come to be the last of the Amazons?” asks Earth 2 editor Pat McCallum. “It’s one of the mysteries we’ll be getting into with the series. While there will be recognizable faces and settings on Earth 2, don’t for a moment think you’re on familiar ground. Do that, and you let your guard down…and then you’ll end up like the rest of the Amazons.”

UPDATED Tuesday, February 28th: DC has rolled out another character design from the New 52 "Second Wave" parallel earth of May's Earth 2 and Worlds' Finest, this time it's the Earth 2 Robin, who just so happens to be a familiar character..
“Helena Wayne has been taught how to be the perfect Robin,” said James Robinson, writer of Earth 2. “Assured as a detective, fighter, scientist, pilot and all around crime-fighter she’s been groomed by Batman to be the perfect caped manhunter (or should we say manHuntress) when she grows up.”
“Before coming to the main DCU Earth and taking up the mantle of Huntress, Helena Wayne fought crime alongside her father as the Robin to his Batman on Earth 2!” added Worlds' Finest editor Wil Moss. “But how did she come to be on this Earth? And why did she decide to become Huntress? You’ll get some clues in next week’s Huntress #6, but for the real scoop, pick up Worlds' Finest #1!”
Here’s a first look at the Robin of Earth 2, designed by Kevin Maguire.
Original story: Earth 2 and Worlds' Finest both debut in May, both heavily involve an Earth parallel to DC's main New 52 continuity, and are both being spotlighted this week on the publisher's official publicity blog, The Source.
Written by James Robinson and illustrated by Nicola Scott, the exact nature of Earth 2 and its featured cast remain unclear, but Monday's reveal of Jim Lee's design for the book's alternate version of Batman contains some clues, most notably series editor Pat McCallum's statement that "there is a Wayne under the mask." (An adult Damian, maybe?)
Here's the full quote from McCallum:
"Who will Batman kill to save his own daughter? Right out of the gate that should tell you we’re dealing
with a different kind of Dark Knight here. More ruthless, dangerous…the
costume is familiar and yeah, there is a Wayne under the mask, but we’re
looking at a man desperate to save the only family he has left. EARTH 2
is about to become a very bad place to be a bad guy."
