Update, 9/30: And as predicted, here's a fifth Point One teaser. This one has a big block of text from Tom Brevoort with it, revealing that this mysterious Lapham/De La Torre story will spin-out directly from Uncanny X-Force. The teaser is on the right, the text is below, and the hint is to check in at New York Comic-Con in two weeks! "Point One is a massive one-shot of 64 all-new pages of story by the top creators in the business, setting the stage for the biggest stories coming in 2012. It is the starting point to what’s in store for the world’s most iconic characters and startling events. Point One serves as the launch pad for dynamic new series – including one that spins directly out of the smash hit Uncanny X-Force’s ‘Dark Angel Saga’, and a shocking teaser that will have everyone talking. See how all it comes together in one gigantic epic!” – Tom Brevoort, Senior Vice President, Executive Editor
Find out more at the X-Men: Regenesis Panel at this year’s New York Comic Con, Sunday October 16th at 3:30PM!Update, 9/29: The fourth Point One teaser debuted Thursday, and unlike the first three, the creative team listed — Christopher Yost and Ryan Stegman — aren't attached to any previously announced projects. And hey, is that Scarlet Spider there, hoodie and all? That's certainly what it looks like — keep in mind that Marvel debuted a teaser image at Comic-Con International: San Diego this year with what appeared to be the Scarlet Spider's signature sweatshirt on fire, then a month later distributed it again, that time with a "Spider-Island" logo affixed to it. Is this related to that image? Could Ben Reily really be coming back? What's with the dude with the Daredevil Halloween mask? Your guess is as good as ours at this point, so feel free to speculate wildly. Though keep in mind the quote from Marvel senior vice president of publishing Tom Brevoort, found in full below: "Point One serves as… the return of fan-demanded characters." Check back on Friday to see if Marvel closes out the week with a fifth image reveal. (Magic 8-Ball says: Outlook good.) Update, 9/28: Point One teaser No. 3 arrived on Wednesday, and it's pretty clear what project this one is teasing — Matt Fraction and Terry Dodson's Defenders, announced at Comic-Con and debuting in December. (Interview with Fraction on the series here.) Of note, though, is that among Iron Fist, the Silver Surfer, Namor and Red She-Hulk — all previously announced as part of the book's cast — are, apparently, Nick Fury and Ant-Man. As Fraction told us in July, "The classic Defenders cast are really at the core, and people rotate in and out as the story grows, as the nature of the mystery becomes unraveled." Keep reading for another teaser on Thursday, which certainly seems likely at this point. Update, 9/27: Tuesday afternoon brings another Point One teaser from Marvel, this one depicting multiple Ultron iterations, along with the creative team of Brian Michael Bendis and Bryan Hitch. An Ultron storyline from Bendis and Hitch has long been expected by readers, with April's Avengers #12.1 serving as a prelude of sorts for the 2012 event. At this, um, point, more Point One teasers seem likely, so keep reading Newsarama this week for more. Original story: Marvel's year-long Point One initiative gets its own one-shot in November, purported to give readers a hint of significant developments in the publisher's near future. The first teaser image for the comic was released on Monday, and certainly suggests that Nova — seemingly killed during recent miniseries The Thanos Imperative — will soon be back in action. A variety of creators are credited for the one-shot, but the Nova image lists Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness. Whether or not this image has anything to do with their December-debuting Avengers: X-Sanction miniseries remains to be seen. Marvel teasers tend to run in packs, so keep reading to see if more Point One images are released this week.
