Update: Updated with more images courtesy of Marvel Comics, plus further details from the publisher.Original story: The new Venom — whomever it might be — is starring in a new ongoing series starting in March from Marvel Comics. Writer Rick Remender and artist Tony Moore are the creative team for Venom, with their run on Dark Horse's Fear Agent scheduled to end with issue #32. The pair also previously worked together on Marvel's Punisher, ushering in the character's transformation to Franken-Castle. According to comments from Remender on Marvel.com, the series will find Venom in new territory, working as a government operative and only wearing the suit for a few days at a time. Most recently, Mac Gargan has served as host to the Venom symbiote, but Amazing Spider-Man writer Dan Slott has confirmed in interviews that the character will soon return to his Scorpion persona. Eddie Brock, the original Venom, was rechristened as "Anti-Venom" in 2008's "New Ways to Die" story arc. The new Venom is scheduled to debut in February's Amazing Spider-Man #654.1, part of Marvel's new reader-courting "Point One" initiative. The identity of the new Venom remains a mystery, but prevalent fan speculation has centered around supporting character Vin Gonzales. In a November interview with Newsarama, Remender stated, "There is an unannounced project at Marvel that I’m pretty excited about. It’s a big character that has been cooled off for a while. Marvel has a great strategy in terms of a lot of the time they’ll cool a character off so people are clamoring for it, and then they’ll re-launch. I’m fortunate enough to be entrusted with that, so I’m currently working on the outline for that with some very exciting classic Marvel characters." More, including concept art by Moore, can be found in Marvel.com's article announcing the series. Marvel's official press release follows: Venom is back with an all-new mission and all-new human host, but just what does this mean for the Marvel Universe?
