J.H. Williams III ran away with the favorite cover of 2009 vote, showing off his skills at portraying Batwoman on the covers of Detective Comics.
This year, it seems the field is much the same, with several familiar names in the top 16, continuing to show off their cover skills. Williams, Djurdjevic, Kubert, and Quitely all return to the tournament. Albuquerque is the lone artist to be nominated TWICE in this category this year.
This is an incredibly subjective one, and nearly impossible to narrow down to 16, with literally thousands of possible entries, but we did have some duplicate entries from our selection pool, and those became our tournament spots.
This is an ultra-visual one, so we collected all the nominated covers together, and put them in a gallery, seen on the top right. Click through to see each of them so you're making an informed decision!
Remember, you don’t have to be a registered Newsarama reader to participate. EVERYONE can help choose by picking one choice in each of the below brackets. Again, there are eight of them in Round 1, so keep going until you’ve voted in ALL eight brackets. Voting for Round 1 will remain open for 1 week.
Newsarama Note: Full methodology for nomination is below the polls. Voting is open until Monday, Dec 13 at 5pm EST.10 Newsarama contributors submitted their lists for their personal Top 20 in each of the five categories. The results were tabulated using a weighted system that awarded an escalating number points according to how high the nominee appeared on the list - 20th place was worth 1 point, 19th place 2 points ... up to 20 points for 1st place.
The final nominee lists are the top 16 nominees with the highest point totals in each category.
Each bracket is seeded according to point total, with the highest vote-getter in each bracket moving onto the next round.
There will be 4 total rounds for each category (the “Sinister 16”, "Extremis 8", “Fantastic Four” and Finals) eventually resulting in one overall “Favorite of 2010” for each group.
