Warner Premiere wants to take readers back to the ferocious Old West, in a time when “greed, lust and lawlessness ruled the land” in the debut of their eighth Motion Comics series Jonah Hex. The new seven-part weekly episodic series debuts Wednesday April 28th and of course leads up to the June 18th premiere of the Jonah Hex theatrical feature film from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures, starring Josh Brolin, John Malkovich and Megan Fox. The exclusive debut of the trailer follows below.
The Motion Comics series, based on the 1970’s DC Comics’ work by writer John Albano and artist Tony DeZuniga, are being created by Sequence Post, the studio that previously created the Batman: Black and White and Watchmen Motion Comics series.
The series is an all-new collection of archival comics featuring DC’s ruthless bounty hunter with a conscience. The first five episodes are adapted from the graphic novel Two Gun Mojo, telling the story of Jonah Hex seeking justice and revenge against Doc Williams and his gang when a friend is murdered. The Gunfighter and The Hangin’ Woman will also be adapted, featuring re-colored images and animated for the first time.
Jim Cummings, best known for being the voice of the Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, takes on the role of Jonah Hex, leading a voice cast also featuring Steve Blum, Bill Farmer, Maurice LaMarche, Lani Manella, Colleen O’Shaughnessy and Mick Wingert.
Jonah Hex Motion Comics will debut Wednesday, April 28th on iTunes, Amazon Video on Demand, Xbox Live / Zune Market Place and the PlayStation Network for 99 cents per episode or $5.99 for a season pass.
