Summer Empyre1 of 12
June heats up Marvel's big summer event Empyre with betrayals, casualties, dark secrets, and more, all revealed in Marvel's just-released June 2020 solicitations.
And the action isn't confined to Empyre - big things are in store for Amazing Spider-Man as it approaches a new milestone, new Avengers join the fray, and much more.
We've taken it all and boiled it down to what you need to know from Marvel's June 2020 solicitations.
World-Changing (Or Not?)2 of 12
Two solicitations in June spell out massive changes for the Marvel Universe - at least, for as long as the stories last.
First up in Avengers #35, a "godlike" Moon Knight conquers the entire world and begins remaking it in the image of Khonshu, while the Avengers are stuck on the run in "New Thebes City".
Then, in Iron Man 2020 #6 (the limited series' finale), Arno Stark manages to bring about "the end of all human and artificial life as we know it" - or at least, that's what the solicitation threatens.
Unstoppable Avengers3 of 12
Two new Savage Avengers are joining the team (at least for a while) in June's #14, with Black Knight and Juggernaut signing up.
Speaking of which, Juggernaut and Black Knight each have a busy June. In addition to showing up here, Juggernaut is fighting Hulk in his solo series in June, while Black Knight plays a role in June's Empyre: Avengers #3.
Miles of Miles?4 of 12
Miles Morales will soon face his Marvel Universe counterpart (he came to the 616 from the Ultimate Universe) - but that's not the only mirror match in his future.
In June's Miles Morales: Spider-Man #19, Miles will have to square off with a mysterious stranger who has his exact face - a new clone saga?
Secret Empyre5 of 12
One of Earth's heroes has a big secret to reveal in Empyre #5 - the event series' penultimate issue. But who is it - and what?
Given how much is at stake - and still unknown - and that there are Skrulls, and so on and so on, well... It could be anything.
But the character in question is described as a "fan favorite," and since Wiccan and Hulkling are on the cover, one might guess it could have something to do with one of them.
And since we know a little something about what happens in #4 (also out in June - more on that in a moment), we have a guess...
New God6 of 12
Thor's got his work cut out for him in June's Thor #7, where he's having trouble lifting Mjolnir - but over in the simultaneous Empyre: Thor #2, the Odinson faces a "new God" who seems to have no trouble lifting the mighty Uru hammer.
Amazing Spider-Man #8507 of 12
Amazing Spider-Man has relaunched a few times, but it's still managed to return to its classic numbering for major milestones - last time during "Marvel Legacy" when it reverted for a run that spanned #749-#801.
It seems it'll do so again, this time in July , with the solicitations for Amazing Spider-Man #47 & #48 mentions the lead up to Amazing Spider-Man LGY #850 in July (we're guessing LGY means "Legacy").
Given the previous legacy numbering stopped at #801, it's likely Amazing Spider-Man #49 will get the "Legacy" treatment with double numbering, going back to its modern denotation with #50. There is of course also the chance that Amazing Spider-Man LGY #850 will be its own standalone issue alongside the ongoing series.
Nice Day For a White Widow8 of 12
The upcoming relaunched volume of Black Widow has put Natasha in retirement and living a more mundane home life alongside a still mysterious fiancee.
But June's Black Widow #3 - in which she may become a bride - also makes her a "White Widow" (sound like a codename to anyone else?).
That means her fiancee/spouse must be dead - and she's likely out of retirement.
Pete & MJ on the Rocks?9 of 12
Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson have recently got back together after around a decade of separation thanks to Mephisto's meddling - but now it seems the Kree/Skrull Alliance may have something to say about their rekindled romance.
Not directly of course - but the solicitation for Empyre: Spider-Man #3 says Peter Parker will have to make a sacrifice as a result of the war that will change his relationship with MJ.
Sounds like that ol' Parker luck...
Screaming For Vengeance10 of 12
Ghost Rider's fellow demonic biker Vengeance will return in June's Ghost Rider Annual #1, rising from the depths of Hell once more.
Likewise, the solicitation for Captain America #23 mentions the return of "Captain America's greatest foe", along with a "resurrection" - could Red Skull be back from the dead?
An Empyre Betrayed11 of 12
Considering Empyre centers around Teddy Altman/Hulkling uniting the Kree and Skrull under one banner (for altruistic reasons, to be fair) and bringing the longtime foes of Marvel's heroes back to Earth, it's hard to imagine what constitutes a betrayal in that environment - but June's Empyre #4 will answer that question.
Empyre #4 heats up the invasion of Wakanda, and, according to the solicits, the heroes will have to take on "enemies - and their allies" as someone betrays them.
And that betrayal may have shocking ramifications, as the solicitation also mentions the invasion's "first casualty," and a "shock ending."
Given someone's got a secret in the next issue (#5, also in June - it came up a few entries ago?) and that cover features Wiccan and Hulkling reunited, is it possible Wiccan has been hiding something this whole time?
