Vault Comics will publish a comic book based on longrunning tabletop roleplaying game Vampire: The Masquerade, as announced in The Hollywood Reporter.
Tim Seeley, Tini Howard, and Blake Howard will co-write the ongoing series with Devmalya Pramanik and Addison Duke providing the art. Aaron Campbell will create the covers.
The series' story follows two different paths, which converge around a secret that could change vampire society forever. Vault will work alongside Vampire owners Paradox Interactive to include material in each issue that allows players to incorporate the story of the comic into their tabletop games.
"When Vampire: The Masquerade launched in 1991, it felt like the first RPG to embrace dark and mature themes largely ignored by previous games,” said Vault Editor in Chief Adrian Wassel in a statement. “Close to 30 years later, following the successful launch of the 5th edition, Vampire: The Masquerade is exploring new avenues of storytelling with our comic series. I can’t imagine a better team than the one we’ve assembled.”
“As you get deeper into the series, you’ll discover how the two stories connect, unearthing a city-shaking conspiracy,” Wassel continued. “This is Vault’s first comic outside the world of creator-owned and we’re thrilled to be partnered with a brand that shares our commitment to the very best genre storytelling."
Vampire: The Masquerade #1 is due out in July.
