DC Universe's Stargirl is now set to debut Monday, May 11 on the streaming platform - then appearing, with commercials, on the CW the following day. Although the length of the first season has not been specified, new episodes are scheduled to air Mondays on DC Universe, then Tuesdays on the CW.
"Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore as she moves to Blue Valley, Nebraska after her mother remarries Pat Dugan and inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past," reads the show's description. "The live-action superhero drama reimagines the 1999 Stargirl comics and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series."
The DC Universe Stargirl episodes will be commercial free and downloadable in 4K Ultra HD. The streaming service also has plans to host extended versions of several episodes, as well as behind-the-screens footage, exclusive collectible pins and posters, and a fan community forum.
Stargirl stars The Goldbergs' Brec Bassinger in the title role of Courtney Moore, joined by Luke Wilson (Pat Dugan), Anjelika Washington (Doctor Mid-Nite), Yvette Monreal (Wildcat), Cameron Gellman (Hourman), and Joel McHale (Starman). The series is showrun by the character's co-creator Geoff Johns and Queen Sugar's Melissa Carter.
