Sony Television partner Original Film is developing a TV series based on the adventures of classic pulp hero Doc Savage, according to Deadline.
The TV series was originally intended as a feature film, which was announced in 2013, with Dwayne Johnson signing on to lead the film in 2016. However, in 2018, Johnson stated that the film had been put on hold due to business complications.
Following this, Deadline states that Original Film head Neal H. Moritz changed course to create a television show, which is now in development.
According to the Hollywood trade, plots for Doc Savage, based on the character who debuted in the 1930s and whose death-defying adventures paved the way for modern superheroes, will revolve around "rampaging dinosaurs, secret societies led by dastardly villains, fantastic gadgets and weapons, death-dealing traps, hair-raising escapes, and plots to rule the earth."
No projected premiere date or outlet for Doc Savage has been announced.
