Veteran actor (and longtime Martian Manhunter voice actor) Carl Lumbly has been cast in an unspecified role for Disney+'s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, according to Deadline. While the Hollywood trade says Lumbly's role has not been disclosed, they lean on the theory he could be playing the second Captain America, Isaiah Bradley.
Neither Marvel nor Disney+ have confirmed Lumbly's casting.
Retconned into comic book continuity in 2003's Truth: Red, White & Black by the late Robert Morales and Kyle Baker, Bradley was revealed to be part of Tuskegee-like experiments with the Super Soldier Serum following Steve Rogers' successful test, transforming him into Captain America. After working for a black ops U.S. Military group during World War II, Bradley went renegade with a stolen Captain America costume and shield and became a vigilante himself.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Marvel Studios' first series for Disney+, is currently filming in Atlanta.
Lumbly is a 40+ year acting veteran, but is perhaps best known to Newsarama readers for voicing Martian Manhunter in the shows Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, Static Shock, and the film Justice League: Doom. He has also recurred in CW's Supergirl as Martian Manhunter's father, M'yrrn.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is anticipated to debut this August.
