Karen Obilom has been cast in DC Universe/HBO Max's Doom Patrol in a recurring role of Roni Evers, according to Deadline. Obilom's character is described as "a military veteran, with a mysterious past, that Vic Stone/Cyborg (Wade) meets while attending a PTSD support group."
With a name like "Roni Evers," her character would seemingly be based on DC Comics' Ronald Evers, who also worked in the military. What’s interesting though is that Evers eventually turned into a cyborg himself - even calling himself "Cyborg" - and became an adversary to the Teen Titans member.
For some reason, Deadline reports that Obilom will debut in "the first season fo Doom Patrol." It sounds like an error, as DC Universe's Doom Patrol's first season aired in 2019 and the second season is reportedly underway now.
Obilom is best known for her leading role in BET's ensemble show Games People Play, which was recently renewed for a second season. She's also appeared on NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans.
Doom Patrol is anticipated to return for a second season this year, simultaneously on DC Universe and the upcoming sister streaming service HBO Max.
