Veteran inker Dexter Vines has been diagnosed with cancer, and his friends have launched a GoFundMe to help with his treatment and living expenses. Vines has been was the long-time regular inker of Ed McGuinness and Joshua Middleton, and recently inked a portion of Terry Dodson's upcoming X-Men/Fantastic Four #1.

This fundraiser is being organized by Demita Howard, Brian Reber, and Joe Peacock.

"On January 27, 2020, legendary comics inker Dexter Vines went to the doctor for a chronic lower back pain that refused to go away," the trio write on the GoFundMe page. "He discovered two major surprises: 1) that he had two fractured vertebrae in his lower back, and 2) that they were the result of Multiple Myeloma, a cancer that attacks the plasma of the blood."

Vines has begun treatment, but has learned his insurance will not cover the full cost nor provide with living expenses while he's unable to work. His friends are looking to raise $25,000 that they estimate will cover his treatment and living expenses for the next 9 to 12 months.
