One of Harley Quinn's closest allies in comic books is Poison Ivy, but the two have yet to meet up in live-action films - but the cinematic Harley Quinn, actor Margot Robbie, says she wants it to happen.
"I've been pushing a Poison Ivy reunion for a long time," the actor said at a press event (via CBR). "I've been really working that angle for a long time. Because obviously Ivy and Harley have such an incredible relationship, so I would love to explore that."
In an interview with Nerdist, Robbie (who is now producing the Harley Quinn films) said she dismissed doing a three-way team up with Catwoman and Poison Ivy in the canceled Gotham City Sirens, as that trio was "all well known" while Birds of Prey's members were lesser known and she could raise up.
"Whilst I was researching the character I started to read Birds of Prey and first I fell in love with Huntress, and I started looking into all of that. I was like, ‘Wow, there’s so many cool female DC characters and no one knows anything about any of them!’ So what if we had a platform for fans to get to know and fall in love with some of these other amazing women?" Robbie said.
"Focusing on the Gotham City Sirens, there were only three of us and we were all well known, whereas with Birds of Prey you can pick any grouping for that, and I thought that might be the perfect platform to introduce some female characters who might really have some legs in the DC Universe"
It isn't clear why Robbie, who is a producer of next week's Birds of Prey (and the Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), wasn't able or declined to include the character in the February 7 film.
