Netflix has renewed its adaptation of Dennis Liu's comic book Raising Dion for a second season.
The new season will consist of 8 one-hour episodes, with production scheduled to begin this year.
Netflix celebrated the series' renewal with a portrait of main characters Nicole and Dion by Senegalese painter Bou Bou, seen here.
Raising Dion was one of Netflix's 10 most popular series of 2019, and its most popular release of 2019 in its "Kids and Family" category.
Here's Netflix's official description of Raising Dion's plot:
"Raising Dion follows the story of a woman named Nicole (Alisha Wainwright), who raises her son Dion (newcomer Ja’Siah Young) after the death of her husband, Mark (Michael B. Jordan). The normal dramas of raising a son as a single mom are amplified when Dion starts to manifest several mysterious, superhero-like abilities. Nicole must now keep her son’s gifts secret with the help of Mark’s best friend Pat (Jason Ritter), and protect Dion from antagonists out to exploit him while figuring out the origin of his abilities."
No projected release date for Raising Dion season 2 was announced.
