Though most fans know Cable as a grizzled, older mentor for young heroes, the current version of the paramilitary mutant is a teenage mercenary - and now he's about to headline his own series.
Written by Gerry Duggan with art and covers from Phil Noto, Cable will put the young mutant at the forefront of Krakoa's youth revolution alongside other young X-Men such as Pixie and Armor.
“I’m thrilled to be back working in the X-Universe and very happy to get the band back together with my buddy, Gerry Duggan,” Noto said in the book's announcement. “Cable’s always been a favorite of mine and it’s fun to work in a painterly style again a la Black Widow. Very excited for people to read this book. I think we’re doing something really special. Stay tuned!”
Kid Cable debuted as part of 2018's Extermination, in which he returned the time-displaced original five X-Men to their home era, and killed his older counterpart for failing to effectively preserve the timestream.
Cable #1 is due out in March. Stay tuned to Newsarama for Marvel Comics' full March 2020 solicitations later this month.
