Warner Media has put its long-simmering The Flash movie back on the schedule, with a new July 1, 2022 release date. First reported by The Wrap, Justice League's Ezra Miller remains slotted to reprise his role as Barry Allen/Flash.
The only other major film on that July 1, 2022 date at this point is an untitled Illumination Entertainment film.
The Flash film has a complicated history with a string of departed writers and directors since its announcement in 2014, when it was planned as a spin-off from Justice League. It's unclear how or if Flash may connect to Justice League or any other DC movie at this point.
It director Andy Muschietti will helm the long-gestating production from a script by Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) screenwriter Christina Hodgson.
The only other DC film currently scheduled for 2022 is an untitled Aquaman sequel, set for December 16, 2022.
