DC has posted a job opening for a "Director, Publicity & Communications." Working inside the DC department of the same name, this person in this role would be in charge of "global publicity strategy" for DC both externally and within the WarnerMedia umbrella.
"This role will develop strategic executive speaking engagements, prepare key messaging and create press opportunities for members of the management team, as well as review speaking requests and help identify the best candidates," the job posting reads. "In addition, they will oversee DC Internal Communications across the enterprise, as well as keep DC employees apprised of business strategies, goals and accomplishments. This role will oversee the coordination, tracking and management of DC press coverage across, as well as media subscriptions and monitoring reports."
DC is looking for someone with a Bachelor's Degree "or equivalent experience" in English, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Journalism. On the job experience side, applicants are required by DC to have 10-15 years of publicity epxerience - with "communications publicity or public relations" specialty preferred.
The position would be based out of DC's offices in Burbank, CA. in what employees call "the Warner Bros. tower," but DC wants someone who is able to handle domestic travel 30% of the year.
The prospective hire is also expected to have the "Ability to respond to off-hours business needs."
Michael Shelling, who is celebrating five years with DC this month, holds the title of Director, Publicity (Publishing). It’s not clear if or how this new job posting relates to Shelling’s role.
DC's Publicity & Communications department is led by Senior VP of Publicity and Communications, Courtney Simmons. CBR founder Jonah Weiland was recently hired by DC as VP of Marketing & Creative Services, and as part of his duties is a co-lead of the Publishing Publicity team with Simmons.
