Original story from September 23, 2019: 21 Jump Street actor Jonah Hill is in talks to play an unspecified villain in director Matt Reeves' The Batmanaccording to Variety.

Hill's specific potential role was not reported by Variety. News of his talks comes hot on the heels of a report that actor Jeffrey Wright is in negotiations for the role of Commissioner Gordon.

Variety's Justin Kroll, who authored the initial story, further tweets that Hill's negotiations have dragged on for longer than normal, citing disputes over Hill's salary - and whether the actor would play the Riddler or the Penguin. None of the script's planned villains have been announced.

The Batman, which stars Robert Pattinson in the title role, is scheduled for a June 25, 2021 theatrical release.
