Hailee Steinfield says she doesn't know if she'll be playing Kate Bishop Disney+'s upcoming Hawkeye show. Variety reports that they asked the actor last week about the reported offer while she was promoting her upcoming Apple Plus show Dickinson.
"That, I don’t know about! I don’t know," Steinfield said. "I have no idea what you’re talking about."
Back in September, Variety reported that Marvel Studios had offered the role to Steinfield but were waiting for the actor to respond. Now here in October 25, Variety reports that the offer still stands, and Marvel has not approached any other actors for the part.
Original Story from September 9, 2019: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse actor Hailee Steinfeld has been offered the role of Kate Bishop in Disney+'s upcoming Hawkeye TV series, according to Variety.
The Hollywood trade reports that Steinfeld, who voiced Gwen Stacy in Into the Spider-Verse, has the part if she wants it. She'd be portraying Clint Barton's protege as an Avenging archer, who, in comic books, is also a founding member of the Young Avengers.
Given Steinfeld's rising star as an actor - and the prominent role Kate Bishop has played in Marvel Comics - this could signal an important future for Kate Bishop in the MCU.
Hawkeye is scheduled to debut on Disney+ in Fall, 2021.
