Wu Assassins star Iko Uwais is in talks to play the Hard Master in Paramount's G.I. Joe prequel Snake Eyes, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Henry Golding was previously cast as Snake Eyes, with Andre Koji as Storm Shadow. The film is scheduleed to begin shooting this fall with director Robert Schwentke.

Originally created by Larry Hama for 1984's G.I. Joe #26, the Hard Master is the uncle of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, and also leader of the Arashikage Clan. His murder by Zartan led to a split between the two ninja, with one joining G.I. Joe and the other, Cobra.

In 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Gerald Okamura played the Hard Master.

In addition to Wu Assassins, Uwais has appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the first two The Raid films.

Snake Eyes is scheduled to open in theaters October 16, 2020.
