Updated December 12, 2019: Will Poulter has dropped out of Amazon's planned Lord of the Rings TV show, according to Variety. "Scheduling conflicts" is cited as the reason for the change - although what the 2020 LotR filming schedule isconflicting with has not specified.

Original Story: Will Poulter (The Maze Runner) has been cast in a lead role for Amazon's Lord of the Rings TV show, according to Deadline.

Poulter's reported character is named "Beldor," although no further details were provided by the Hollywood trade. Markella Kaveneagh was cast back in July as "Tyra."

The Hollywood trade says Amazon declined to comment on the casting.

According to Deadline, the TV series will "explore new storylines preceding J.R.R. Tolkien's The Fellowship of the Ring." No premiere date for the in-development series has been announced.
