"Darwyn Cooke" is one of 10 names on a shortlist for the naming of three new streets in Toronto's Etobicoke Centre area. The streets are planned as part of a redesign of the Six Points Interchange.
The late Darwyn Cooke was born and raised in the Six Points/Etobicoke Centre area, and briefly attended the nearby George Brown College.
The other names on the shortlist are Adobigok, Biindagen, Diversity, Jerry Howarth, Dr. Judith Pilowsky, Rob Ford, Wadoopikang, Westwood Theater, and Dr. W.K Fenton. These names were narrowed down from a pool of 600+ submissions according to the city.
Toronto residents are encouraged to assign a rating of 1 to 5 points for each name, based on preference. At this time, the ratings are open to Toronto residents only. The deadline to submit a rating is September 2 at 5:00 p.m. local time - make your voice heard here.
After the ratings are tallied, a panel of Toronto officials will decide on a final reccomendation of the three new street names, which will then be submitted to the Etobicoke York Community Council for a final decision.
