Updated 5:40 p.m. EST, August 19, 2019: Avengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo now says he and his brother Anthony's statement that Richard Rider/Nova appears as an Easter egg as one of the characters in the massive final battle of the film was "a joke."
"That was actually a joke on our part," Joe Russo clarified in an email to ComicBook.
The Russos made the apparent joke in response to a fan question during a Twitter Q&A.
Original Story: Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo revealed one of the secrets still hiding in the epic film - namely the inclusion of one Richard Rider, a.k.a. Nova.
Specifically, the Russos say Rider appears in the film's final battle, among the "hundreds of characters" warring against Thanos and his hordes.
The revelation comes around the 12:48 mark in this Twitter Q&A video:
Though the Nova Corps appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy, their homeworld of Xandar was said to be destroyed offscreen in Avengers: Infinity War.
