DC has hired Jonah Weiland as its new Vice President of Marketing & Creative Services.
I’m incredibly excited to say I’ve joined the staff @DCComics as their VP of Marketing & Creative Services! To celebrate, I’ve baked a series of super hero, whole wheat, sourdough breads with all natural colors! First up, my tribute to Wonder Woman! Yes, it’s edible and tasty!!! pic.twitter.com/0MriwfQwM2— Jonah Weiland (@jonahweiland) August 6, 2019
In Weiland's new role, he will be responsible for all of DC's sell-in and sell-thru marketing strategies. Weiland will lead the Trade Marketing, Consumer Marketing, and Design/Creative Services teams - and co-lead the Publishing Publicity team with DC's Senior VP of Publicity and Communications, Courtney Simmons. Weiland will be working closely with DC's Senior VP of Publishing Strategy Hank Kanalz, as well as co-publishers Dan DiDio and Jim Lee (who is also Chief Creative Office).
Weiland is best-known as the founder of CBR (formerly ComicBookResources), which began in 1995 as a fan message board focused on DC's Kingdom Come. He left the company in 2016 after selling it to Valnet.
Weiland will reunite with a number of other CBR alumni who work at DC, including (but not limited to) Albert Ching, Rob Levin, Andy Khouri, and Mike Pallotta.
