After years of saying Black Lightning is unconnected to the CW's other DC shows, the network announced on Sunday that the show would be a part of this winter's "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover event - and that the show's third season would also be premiering early, according to Deadline.

Unspecified members of Black Lightning's cast are now expected to be on the five-episode crossover, however unlike other shows involved it will not be crossing over into their show for an episode.

Black Lightning's third season is now set to come out October 7 - two weeks earlier than its originally announced October 21 date.

The CW did not give a reason for these two changes.

“Crisis on Infinite Earths” will crossover Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman in a five-episode event, with three episodes airing in December and the two airing in January.
