42-year-old actor Milo Ventimiglia once dreamed of playing Batman on the big screen - but when the time came to cast a new Caped Crusader, Ventimiglia said Warner Bros. told him he's "too old" for the version of the character next headed to cinemas in director Matt Reeves' The Batman.
“They said, ‘Ventimiglia, you’re too old'," the actor told Variety of his bid to be Warners' next Dark Knight. “It’s okay. It doesn’t matter. By the way, I’m kind of busy.”
Ventimiglia was recently nominated for an Emmy for his role on television's This Is Us. The actor previously voiced several comic book roles, including voicing Wolverine for his titular anime adaptation, and voicing Spider-Man: Noir for Disney XD's Ultimate Spider-Man. He also portrayed the villainous Ogre on Fox's Gotham.
Robert Pattinson, 32, eventually landed the role of Bruce Wayne for The Batman, due out theatrically June 25, 2021.
