Sam Witwer has signed on to play a rival school's creative writing teacher in the CW's Riverdale, according to ComicBook. The apparently original-to-TV character, identified as Mr. Chipping, is described as "handsome, bookish and cool."
"Mr. Chipping teaches creative writing at a prestigious prep school near Riverdale," reads the CW's description of the character. "He recruits Jughead for his seminar, and while he's eminently inspiring to his students, there's a darkness hidden far beneath the surface…”
Witwer is reportedly scheduled to have a recurring role on Riverdale.
Witwer is a veteran genre actor, best known for playing Darth Maul in Solo: A Star Wars Story and various animated projects. He also plays Agent Liberty in CW's Supergirl and appeared on Smallville as Davis Bloome/Doomsday.
Riverdale's fourth season is scheduled to begin October 9 on the CW.
