Robert Redford will play a version of himself - President of the United States Robert Redford - in HBO's upcoming Watchmen series, according to Fox News.
"It is not supposed to be a world that you recognize," said showrunner Damon Lindelof. "What is actual history and what is alt-history and things start to get blended in the middle."
According to Fox News, the presidential timeline has Redford winning the U.S. Presidential election in 1992 and finagling his way into continuing as president up through the modern-day 2019 setting of the Watchmen show.
Reford announced his retirement from acting in 2018 - while he appeared in 2019's Avengers: Endgame, that scene was reportedly filmed before Redford's retirement.
