The long-planned sequel to 2016's Doctor Strange has a name, a release date, and a surprising co-star.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to hit theaters May 7, 2021 - taking the studios' prized first-weekend in May release date.
Benedict Cumberbatch will be joined by a fellow Avenger in the film - Elizabeth Olsen (a.k.a. Scarlet Witch), with the film tying into Disney+'s WandaVision, which is set for a spring 2021 release.
"I'm really excited to be at the dawn of the project," said Cumberbatch. "The twist of horror will have people gripped."
Co-writer/director Scott Derickson is confirmed to be returning for this film. Derickson calls it "the first scary MCU film."
