Russo Bros. To Tackle GRIMJACK, BATTLE OF THE PLANETS Post-Marvel

Battle of the Planets

Deadline is reporting Joe and Anthony Russo are developing (as producers) live-action adaptations of Grimjack and Battle of the Planets as live-action projects for their production company AGBO, as announced Friday at Comic-Con.

According to Deadline, the Russos "would rush home from school every day to watch Battle of the Planets," and that Grimjack was a “deep cut“ that the pair loved as kids.

Grimjack is the 1983 creation of John Ostrander and Tim Truman, first published by First Comics in a solo series in 1984. Amazon is developing it as a television series with writer Kevin Murphy.

Battle of the Planets is based on the Tatsuo Yoshida Japanese series Science Ninja Team Gatchaman from 1973 that was one of the first anime series to be syndicated on American cable television in the late 70s. The Russos announced it would be developed as a feature film that they might direct.
