Writer/director Sam Raimi has revealed there are discussions for a new Evil Dead film. In an interview with Bloody-Disgusting, Raimi said he is talking with series star Bruce Campbell and long-time producer Rob Tapert about several possible directions.
"I’d love to make another one. I don’t think TV is in its future but we’re talking about – Bruce, Rob and myself – one or two different ways to go for the next movie," Raimi said. "We’d like to make another Evil Dead feature and in fact we’re working on some ideas right now."
Following the end of the recent Ash vs. Evil Dead television series, Campbell has said he was 'retired' from the role - but Raimi is trying to convince him otherwise.
"I would be thrilled if Bruce Campbell changed his mind about retirement, would come back for the original Evil Dead line,” Raimi said. “But if not, I’m very happy to work with, if Fede Álvarez would come back and make the sequel… but he’s such a big shot now. He’s so successful, an artist in demand, that I don’t think he’d want to do that."
Álvarez directed the 2013 Evil Dead film - which Raimi confirmed is part of the franchise's larger continuity.
"I think that’s a part of the Evil Dead universe but not part of the Bruce Campbell storyline," said the series creator.
