Graphite Comics have hired former Line Webtoon staffers Jin Kim and Jimmy Deoquino as the company grows after its June launch. Graphite describes itself as a "Netflix-meets-Spotify-meets-YouTube for comics", with apps on both Apple and Android platforms.
"I'm thrilled to join Graphite comics and contribute to an industry defining creator platform” said Kim. “In a short month, Graphite has already made huge strides in the world of digital comics for both fans and publishers. Graphite is a fantastic opportunity for creators to build and monetize a sustainable fanbase."
Kim joins Graphite as its Director of Creative Strategy and Growth, will a goal to work with writers and artists on comics for the budding platform. She previously worked at Webtoon as head of its Discover program to find new creators. Before that was an analyst and Hyundai.
"Jin’s extensive experience with the creator community and in building creator platforms will further solidify Graphite as the most innovative digital comics experience for fans, publishers and creators and help fulfill our promise to creators that we understand and value that they are the lifeblood of this industry," said Graphite's CCO Tom Akel, who worked with both at Webtoon.
Deoquino's title is Associate Producer of Content and Experiential, focusing on comics for the platform as well as the company's convention appearances. He previously worked as a Brand Ambassador for Webtoon and Story Stable.
