Press Release

Comics Experience is excited to announce a new Master Seminar taught by award-winning comic writer and filmmaker Greg Pak! Master Seminar with Greg Pak: The Pak-Process will take place live, online, on Saturday, July 13, 2019. Registration is now open.

Pak is a multi-hyphenate creator whose writing credits include Marvel's blockbuster Planet Hulk and Star Wars comics; the acclaimed children's book The Princess Who Saved Herself; and the independent anthology film Robot Stories. His work has earned accolades from Wizard magazine and IGN; won reader polls, and garnered a Rockefeller Media Arts Fellowship.
In this Master Seminar, Pak will spend the full-day session guiding new and experienced writers through the steps of his carefully-honed writing process while helping them to develop their own. Using tools and insights refined over the course of his career, Pak will reveal practical storytelling principles and problem-solving techniques that students can start using right away in their own work.

Pak reflects, "During my fifteen year comics career, I've written or co-written almost five hundred individual comic book scripts. In the last six months alone, I've turned in about forty scripts, which even I have a little trouble wrapping my head around. Every writer has a different, equally valid process. But this will be an introduction to one working comic book writer's methods for turning hundreds of loopy ideas and dreams into actual scripts."

Comics Experience founder and instructor Andy Schmidt will moderate the session, which will include a question-and-answer period with the instructors. Schmidt expressed his excitement to partner with Pak for the Master Seminar, commenting, “I’ve wanted Greg to teach this course for a couple of years. His process is amazing, and his commitment to discovering and workshopping the best possible version of a script is unparalleled, and now attendees can learn how he does it.”

Online registration is $295 for the full-day session, held from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time on July 13. In addition to invaluable instruction, students will have access to the recorded audio and video of the seminar for two weeks after the event. All who are interested in this one-of-a-kind opportunity can check out Comics Experience's website to register and learn more! Space is expected to fill quickly, so those who want to secure a spot are encouraged to enroll as soon as possible.
