It’s been some time since Jessica Drew took the spotlight as Spider-Woman, but she’ll be back in action come this September, returning to her espionage roots as part of Marvel’s “ruthless” new black-ops team Strikeforce from writer Tini Howard and artist German Peralta.
But her old lifestyle isn’t all that’s back on the table. She’s back in her old duds as well – the classic silver age costume designed by Marie Severin that Jessica wore as Spider-Woman until 2017 when she donned a popular updated version of that look, designed by Kris Anka (seen at the right).
The change has sparked people to come down on both sides of the issue - some applauding a return to her classic form, others lamenting the loss of Anka's more progressive design.
However, Strikeforce series writer Howard was quick to allay these fans’ fears, taking to her personal Twitter to express her love for Jessica Drew as a character, and for her original costume – which the writer herself once even cosplayed (seen below).
I happen to really like the old red suit! I looked cute as hell in it, anyway. pic.twitter.com/iDpuayVoSl— Tini Howard (@TiniHoward) June 11, 2019
