Dark Phoenix stars Sophie Turner and Jessica Chastain have offered some insight into the production of the film, now in theaters, explaining the script for the film was constantly fluctuating, with each working alongside writer/director/producer Simon Kinberg to rewrite the film on a near daily basis.
"Simon and I would sit down for two hours every day and just comb through each page of the script," Turner told ScreenRant. "There was rewriting being done all the time."
"You could have a conversation and something comes from that and then the next morning, Simon would show up to work and say, 'Hey, I wrote some pages that I think could be interesting for this direction we’re going'," added Chastain.
Kinberg was also a producer on several other films that famously underwent extensive rewrites and reshoots, including 2015's Fantastic Four and Lucasfilm's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Dark Phoenix has thus far garnered poor critical response. Newsarama's review can be read right here .
