A number of Marvel Studios actors and filmmakers are set to be honored with Disney Legend status, to be awarded at Disney's upcoming D23 expo.
Chief among the honorees is Robert Downey, Jr.,who recently wrapped a decade long tenure as Iron Man, the MCU's flagship character. Iron Man director Jon Favreau will also receive the honor, as will Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actor Ming-Na Wen and Star Wars actor James Earl Jones.
Other Disney actors and filmmakers set to receive Disney Legend status at this year's ceremony include Wing Chao, Bette Midler, Kenny Ortega, Barnette Ricci, Robin Roberts, Diane Sawyer, and Hans Zimmer.
“The Disney Legends Award is the highest honor we can bestow; it’s a recognition of talent, a celebration of achievement, and an expression of profound gratitude to the remarkable men and women who have made an indelible mark on our company and our creative legacy,” said Disney Chairman Bob Iger in a statement. “This year’s honorees have earned a place in our hearts and our history for their significant contributions in film, television, and our theme parks around the world.”
The Disney Legends ceremony will take place during D23, at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 23, in Hall D23 of the Anaheim Convention Center.
