Karolina Wydra, Christopher James Baker, and Barry Shabaka Henley have joined the cast of ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for its upcoming sixth season.
Wydra will play Izel, "a mercenary from another galaxy who joins forces with the S.H.I.E.L.D. team in order to survive the perils of space." The character will apparently be original to the show, as there's no major Marvel character named 'Izel'. The actor previously appeared on Quantico, Sneaky Pete, and True Blood.
Baker is "a mysterious assassin from a distant planet" named Malachi. It's not clear if this is based on an existing Marvel character; there are several Malachi's in Marvel Comics continuity, with the closest being a space phantom with the same name during Avengers' "The Crossing" arc.
Baker is best known for his role as Blake Churchman in True Detective, but is a bit of a comic book TV veteran with roles on Gotham and an undisclosed role on the upcoming Stargirl.
Lastly, Henley will play "a brilliant Natural Sciences professor" named Dr. Marcus Benson, recruited to join the S.H.I.E.L.D. team. Like Izel, there's no apparent Marvel Comics character this is based on, at least by name.
Henley recently appeared on Bosch, but comic book fans might remember him best as Detective Bryan Fuller on Heroes.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s sixth season is scheduled to begin airing May 10 on ABC.
