Online movie ticket retailer Fandango has announced that Avengers: Endgame has sold more tickets than any other movie the service has ever offered, beating out previous record holder, 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Fandango did not disclose how the number of tickets sold translates to box office dollars, nor the specific number of tickets sold.
The ticket retailer also says Endgame broke its single day presale record, and sold five times as many tickets through Fandango as in a one week span as Avengers: Infinity War sold in the same timeframe.
“It’s pacing to be our biggest box office weekend of all time,” said Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis in a statement. “We’ve never seen so many new screens and new showtimes added to meet the demand. I expect fans to go back for repeat viewings of Endgame throughout the weekend to catch all the things they missed in the film’s three-hour running time.”
Fandango also has updated its number of sold out showtimes at 8,000.
Avengers: Endgame is due out in theaters beginning Thursday evening at 5pm ET in the U.S.
