20th Century Fox's motion capture adaptation of David Petersen's Mouse Guard has been canceled by Disney who acquired the rights to the project as part of its purchase of Fox assets, according to Deadline. The filmmakers are reportedly shopping the film to other possible studios, including Netflix.

According to the Hollywood trade, Disney executives decided the Mouse Guard film "wasn't a good fit," with Deadline reporting Disney executives are pushing for their 20th Century Fox-absorbed projects to focus on adult-oriented PG-13 and R-rated films, as opposed to the primarily family-oriented films of the Disney label.

Mouse Guard would have starred Idris Elba, Andy Serkis, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Sonoya Mizuno, and was to be directed in motion capture by Wes Ball.
