Brian Azzarello and Maria Llovet's Faithless #1 from BOOM! Studios has sold out at the distributor level, so the publisher is coming back with a second printing - and a second printing with a new, erotic variant.
"We’re floored by the response from fans and retailers who’ve told us that Faithless was their best-selling new release last Wednesday – and we urgently want to get more copies into the hands of readers and into their local comic shops instead of only at high prices on the aftermarket," said BOOM!'s Executive Editor Sierra Hahn.
While the publisher wouldn't give out specifics on Faithless #1's first printing run, it is said to be over 30,000 copies and sold out at Diamond Comic Distributors on its day of release, April 10.
"It’s thrilling to see Brian and Maria’s unfiltered, uncensored exploration of female sexuality in the modern world resonating with so many readers," Hahn continued. "Faithless is about identity, trauma and how the two are often perilously intertwined which, as the last page of our debut issue hints, will definitely be the case for Faith and Poppy."
While the primary second printing variant will be a new version of Paul Pope's original cover, the all-new erotic variant will have new art by Llovet - and be polybagged, and not previewed online before release. Both second printings are scheduled to be available May 22, concurrent with the debut of Faithless #2.
"Brian Azzarello has always had exquisite taste in collaborators, and Maria Llovet is no exception," said Brian K. Vaughan. "The two of them work perfectly together on Faithless, the rare erotic comic that’s actually hot."
