Avengers: Endgame has repeated its North American success and set a record for movie ticket pre-sales in China, according to Deadline.
Citing Chinese box office authority Maoyan Box Office System, the Hollywood trade reports Endgame has sold over 1 million tickets in a matter of hours, setting an all time Chinese record for reaching this threshold.
Endgame has also reportedly surpassed two of Avengers: Infinity War's Chinese presale marks in a fraction of the time, topping Infinity War's 24 hour presale total in just one hour, and surpassing Infinity War's seven day presale total in just three hours.
Deadline reports that as of Friday afternoon, Avengers: Endgame had topped $13.12 million USD in pre-sale dollars in China, though Infinity War remains the Chinese pre-sale total box office dollar record holder with $65m. However, experts cited by Deadline predict that Endgame's ultimate pre-sale dollar total could be in the record-setting $75-100m range. Endgame will also have only 11 days and 12 hours of total pre-sale time in China, while Infinity War's Chinese pre-sale window was 21 days and 7 hours.
The Hollywood trade also clarifies that Chinese theater chain Wanda Cinemas may not be included in pre-sale estimates so far, as that chain reportedly placed their tickets onsale separately, ahead of most other Chinese cinemas.
Avengers: Endgame opens April 24 in China, two days ahead of its April 26 North American theatrical release.
