Kumail Nanjiani is in talks for a starring role in Marvel Studios' The Eternals, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Nanjiani recently finished filming a role in Sony's Men in Black: International (also based on a Marvel comic book if you think about it).

Angelina Jolie was previously reported to be in talks for a major role in the film as well, with THR speculating her role is the one-time comic book Avenger Sersi.

"Nanjiani’s character details were hidden in the sands of time," reports the Hollywood trade, which is either an obscure clue or some creative phrasing on their part.

Hardcore Marvel Comics fans could draw Kang the Conqueror out of "sands of time," given the long-time Avengers foe is a master of time and whose origins go back to the Egyptian Pharaoh Rama-Tut.

'Hidden in time' could also point to Gilgamesh the Forgotten One, if that was the route THR writer Borys Kit was going.

Chloe Zhao has already been confirmed to direct Eternals, based on a script by Matthew and Ryan Firpo.

Marvel has not announced a release date for Eternals, however THR expects this to begin filming later this year.
