Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo are reteaming for what DC is calling their "Final Batman Story" in Batman: Last Knight on Earth from the publisher's Black Label. This three-part series will take the Dark Knight "on a quest across the devastated landscape featuring a massive cast of familiar faces from the DC universe. As he tries to piece together the mystery of his past, he must unravel the cause of this terrible future and track down the unspeakable force that destroyed the world."
Originally announced in 2016 as a Sean Murphy-drawn arc of Snyder's All-Star Batman, the project evolved to become a standalone series with Capullo.
"Batman wakes up in a desert. He doesn’t know what year it is or how the Joker’s head is alive in a jar beside him, but it’s the beginning of a quest unlike anything the Dark Knight has undertaken before," read DC's previous description of the series. "In this strange future, villains are triumphant and society has liberated itself from the burden of ethical codes. Fighting to survive while in search of answers, Bruce Wayne uncovers the truth about his role in this new world—and begins the last Batman story ever told."
With inks by Jonathan Glapion and colors by FCO the series debuts is available in comic book stores and digitally on May 29, 2019.
