Jai Courtney said he'll be reprising his role as Captain Boomerang in Warner Bros's The Suicide Squad - which is a something of a surprise as reports about the James Gunn-written and directed film suggest it will be a full reboot with largely a new cast of characters.
"We're getting ready to shoot in a few months' time," Courtney told Business Insider. "There's not much else I can reveal about it but, yeah, you'll be seeing Boomerang back for sure."
Will Smith and Margot Robbie have both reportedly left the planned sequel over "scheduling conflicts," and Joel Kinnaman's Jack Flagg isn't in the script according to some Hollywood trades. Smith's Deadshot, however, will be reportedly recast with Idris Elba.
"I'm happy, it's going to be fun," Courtney said. "It will be different, for sure, but it's going to be great."
The status of Viola Davis' Amanda Waller hasn't been reported.
The Suicide Squad is due out in theaters August 6, 2021.
