Man Arrested For Stealing $9,000+ In Comics From C2E2 Vendors

Chicago police have arrested an Indiana man for stealing several comic books totaling over $9,000 in value from vendors at this weekend's Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2). According to the Chicago Sun-Times, 51-year-old Stephen Bowles was identified on security footage by Chicago law enforcement for stealing comic books from three vendors at the C2E2 show floor on Saturday, March 23.

At the time of his arrest, Bowles was reportedly in possession of some (but not all) of the stolen merchandise, and soon admitted to the thefts according to prosecutors. He remains in custody, with a bail set at $10,000.

According to the newspaper, Bowles is a retired mechanic with a last-known address in Remington, Indiana, and was previously charged with a misdemeanor count of theft in 2015.

Bowles is scheduled to re-appear in court on Friday, March 29.
