AfterShock Comics, the industry’s fastest-growing independent publishing company behind noteworthy titles including Garth Ennis’ A WALK THROUGH HELL, Marguerite Bennett’s ANIMOSITY and Donny Cates’ BABYTEETH, today announced that comic industry marketing, events and promotions specialist RuthAnn Thompson will join the team as Senior Retailer Relations Manager.
Formerly President of Sponsorships and Events at GeekChic Promotions and New York Comic Con Event Manager for Loot Crate, Thompson brings with her several years of experience managing everything from promotional activities and sponsorships to event planning and talent relations for some of the most established companies in the comic industry. She also served as West Coast Sales Manager for Geek Riot Media, where she was responsible for selling ad space, sponsorships and providing advertising strategy to media partners and advertisers for top comic publishers, pop culture companies and events.
As the primary liaison for AfterShock with store owners, Thompson will manage and expand all retail initiatives and relationships on behalf of the company, including the implementation of the recently unveiled “AfterShock Army” retailer outreach initiative. She will also represent AfterShock among store owners and their staffs as a key point of contact, help and information – especially online in the AfterShock Retailers Exclusive Forum and the Final Order Cutoff page on Facebook. Additionally, Thompson will represent the company at key industry events and conventions, managing communications with retailers, distributors and fans while working alongside the AfterShock marketing and executive teams on various promotional strategies and initiatives.
“As we enter our next stage of retailer engagement, RuthAnn has the experience, skills and outlook that will be of great benefit to AfterShock at this stage in the company’s growth and beyond,” said Steve Rotterdam, SVP of Sales & Marketing for AfterShock, “as we continually invest and strive to be effective agents of change an ever-changing, ever-challenging marketplace.”
