Alba Baptista has been cast in the lead role for Netflix's Warrior Nun television series, according to Deadline. Based on the 1990s comic book title Warrior Nun Areala by Ben Dunn, Warrior Nun follows a resurrected woman who comes back to life to fight in a secret war against demons. While in comic books Warrior Nun Areala's lead character is named Shannon Masters, Netflix has reportedly re-named her Ava.
Baptista is a 22-year-old Portugeuse actor, and recently had a co-starring role on the long-running novella Jogo Duplo. She recently completed filming Fatima alongside Harvey Kietel and Goran Visnjic.
According to the Hollywood trade, Baptista will be joined on Warrior Nun by Toya Turner (as Shotgun Mary), Tristan Ulloa (Father Vincent), Thekla Reuten (Jillian Salvius), Kristina Tontei-Young (Sister Beatrice), Lorena Andrea (Sister Lilith), and Emilio Sakraya (JC).
Netflix has not set a release date fro Warrior Nun.
